Microsoft’s Kinect Blasts Forecast Numbers: Over 1 Million Sold in 10 Days

Microsoft Kinect is the popular X-Box 360 game that promises users they will never have to use a gaming controller again. Using a web cam and natural user interface technology that registers a user’s gestures and movements, the Kinect game is a direct competitor to Wii’s Motion Plus and PlayStation 3′s PlayStation Move. Microsoft Kinect was released on November 4 2010 and it has already hit over one million devices sold in the ten days since its release.

This one million in Microsoft Kinect sales is almost double what Microsoft predicted they would sell and is especially amazing considering those who purchase the gaming system have to shell out $150 for one. Since the figures are set to rise above the initial target already, Microsoft has increased the future sales prediction from three million to five million total units sold by the end of the fiscal quarter.

Some of the games developed and now available for the XBox Kinect gaming system include Kinect Adventures, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, and The Biggest Loser: The Ultimate Workout, among others. Kinect Adventures takes users on a ride to outer space then off-road driving and even provides underwater fantasies. Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows is a typical Harry Potter based game that takes users on a magical and dangerous journey to help defeat Voldemort’s Horcruxes. The Biggest Loser: The Ultimate Workout helps users get in shape and stay that way. Microsoft’s Kinect for XBox is available at various gaming retailers and mass merchandisers everywhere and just in time for the holiday shopping season.
